(Avengers was 29) 30. Detention Saw this at a Q&A screening with Joseph Khan - the director.  He paid for this out of his own pocket.  Don’t think anyone is going to see it.  It played like it was shooting for something  between Heathers and Scream - but fell short of both.  Loved how it was shot - but it just seemed overly complex and rushed.  He’s a music video guy - but the...

DeNiro on Digital:
I’ll tell you what I know about digital. There’s the RED camera which you don’t have to reload all the time, so that saves time. You don’t have to sit around for every 10-minute film magazine, so it goes much faster. You can do take after take without wasting time. Certain filmmakers like to work fast and feel the momentum, and the actors also, everybody gets into it and...

Avengers
So I got into a fan only screening in San Diego for the Avengers yesterday.  The LA screening was full in minutes - and I quickly scanned for the next closest one and it was in SD.   2 hours away. But it was the Avengers.  The only trick with these screenings is getting in.  And here in LA if you go to a free screening - you need to be there at least 2 hours early.  Wasn’t sure how it...

24. War Horse Beautiful film to look at.  Mostly boring to watch.  Felt like it was all filmed on a stage. 25. Jack and Jill Silly.  Stupid.  Silly.  I laughed a few times - and was slightly charmed by Adam Sandler as a woman.  But what a crazy film.  Best part - Norm MacDonald clinging to a light in the men’s room. 26. Puss in Boots Not a whole lot of fun to be had in this film.  Did...

Writing Quote of the Day
theblackheartpoetess: “The test of any good fiction is that you should care something for the characters; the good to succeed, the bad to fail. The trouble with most fiction is that you want them all to land in hell, together, as quickly as possible.”~ Mark Twain

21. 21 Jump Street. How funny that the 21st movie I saw this year was a movie with 21 in the title… Ok - not that funny… but the movie was.  Really enjoyed this one.  I was a fan of the series back in the day…. and thought the movie was really funny.  Tatum Channing was the real revelation here… the guy is seriously funny.  Laughed a lot  - even when the plot became...
